Love consists of this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:10
David is the founder and principal of Compton & Company, a firm he established in 1987 with a mission to provide expert tax strategy, business planning, and IRS representation to individuals and small businesses. With over 40 years of experience in public accounting, David is known for his client-centered approach and deep commitment to helping clients reduce their tax liabilities and build long-term financial success.
A graduate of Mississippi College, David is an active member of the Mississippi Association of Public Accountants and the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is also a dedicated member of the Professional Association of Small Business Accountants (PASBA), where he has served on the national board in multiple leadership roles, including Treasurer and President.
David’s career is defined by integrity, personalized service, and a comprehensive understanding of the financial challenges facing small businesses. His reputation as a trusted advisor has been earned through decades of hands-on service and consistently delivering practical, results-oriented solutions.
Beyond the accounting profession, David has made a lasting impact in the world of youth and amateur soccer. He served as a collegiate and high school soccer referee in Mississippi, earning the distinction of Referee Official of the Year, and contributed to the sport’s development as the state’s Director of Referee Assessment. He also enjoyed many years coaching youth soccer, reflecting his passion for mentoring and community engagement.
In his personal life, David is devoted to his faith and family. A long-time church leader, he has served faithfully as both a teacher and a deacon. He and his high school sweetheart, Debbie, share a rich family life that includes their children, son- and daughter-in-law, and four beloved grandchildren. When he’s not at work, David enjoys traveling with Debbie, spending time with his family, working his land on his trusty tractor, Rudy, and making his famous homemade plum and muscadine jellies—treasured treats among family and friends.
Elizabeth serves as the president of Compton & Company, CPAs—though depending on the day, she also answers to CFO (Chief Fixer of Off-balance sheets). With a love for transforming messy books into clear, meaningful financials, she’s your go-to when your QuickBooks is more “quick mess.” She especially enjoys guiding clients from daily operations all the way through tax time, helping small businesses make sense of the numbers every step of the way.
A summa cum laude graduate of Mississippi State University, Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Accountancy. She later earned her Master of Arts in Christian Education from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, proving she can balance both spreadsheets and spiritual formation.
Before joining Compton & Company in 2012, she cut her teeth at a Memphis-based accounting firm. These days, she’s happily settled into serving clients with a mix of precision, patience, and a dash of Southern charm.
Elizabeth is married to Brett, and together they keep up with their three busy daughters. The family is active in their church and community. When she’s not balancing books or juggling the family calendar, Elizabeth enjoys making homemade marshmallows (yes, really), reading or watching murder mysteries, baking, and making questionable Amazon purchases after 10 pm.
Eddie has been with us since 2020, serving mainly as a payroll specialist. Though most of his career life has not centered around accounting, he has always been a numbers person.
Eddie graduated in the ’80s with a BA in Psychology. His career path took a turn away from psychology, however, when he was hired by the FAA as an air traffic controller. He spent nearly 30 years as a radar controller at NAS Meridian before retiring in 2014. He also spent a few years as a math teacher before joining us.
Eddie has been married for over 35 years to his wife, Melanie. They have two sons, a daughter-in-law, and two grandsons. In his free time, he enjoys researching his family genealogy, reading (especially history books), and gardening. As much as he can, he loves spending time with his two grandsons and spoiling them.
Mona joined our team as a bookkeeper in August of 2025, bringing with her an extremely diverse mix of education and employment experiences. She was a Dean’s List graduate from Livingston University (University of West Alabama) with a Bachelor of Science with double majors in Computer Science and Accounting. She acquired a paralegal certificate from the University of Alabama in Mobile while working for an attorney in Butler, Alabama. Mona moved to Meridian in 2008 where she soon added skills acquired from her billing, bookkeeping, personnel director, and office management positions. In 2016, she also added to her resume a Mississippi Realtors License and she has been a Notary Public for more than 20 years.
Mona is known for staying busy, keeping her work environment organized, and being a faithful, reliable, and dedicated team member. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her large, close-knit family, especially her three children and six energetic grandchildren, often attending their sporting, school, and summer events. Mona and her husband, Lewis, are also lucky to be actively involved in caring for their elderly mothers.
Avid outdoorsmen, they spend a lot of quality time seeking God’s grace, solitude, and closeness in His beautifully designed and peaceful nature surroundings. They manage a hunting camp, where fall and winter are spent preparing fields and filling the freezer. Spring often finds them traveling in their fifth-wheel camper, enjoying quiet riverbank sunsets and early mornings on the water.
During the summer, Mona’s longtime love of canning keeps them busy gardening and gathering fruits to make jams, preserves, and jellies to share with family and friends. They live in Lauderdale surrounded by a mix of rescue cats and dogs, along with their beloved fur babies: Aylin the mini schnauzer, Jace the mini poodle, and Li’l Bit, a retired hunting beagle.
Meet Jennifer, a dedicated Tax Preparer who joined us in early 2026. With a B.A. in Accounting and a “can-do” attitude, Jennifer excels at staying busy and supporting her coworkers to ensure every client has a seamless experience. She has a strong technical foundation providing her with the ability to navigating complex returns or help a teammate. With a diverse professional background—ranging from the Pat Harrison Water District to retail management, she is a reliable pillar of our office who truly loves the work she does.
Jennifer’s “north-meets-south” story began in Wisconsin, but she’s been enjoying the Mississippi sunshine since 2010. When she’s off the clock, she’s an outdoor enthusiast who loves kayaking and camping. As a mother to one daughter and a “bonus mom” to many adopted children, Jennifer has a big heart, which also extends to her five mischievous cats. Looking ahead, she’s excited to trade her keyboard for a pair of farm boots as she plans for a future filled with goats and chickens, in her spare time, of course.
